Recently we had a few visitors to come to Menlo and talk to the students about many subjects. Dr. Stine came to tell the 6th graders about earthquakes, Craig told us about Free the Children, Dr. Hunt came to talk about his job and discoveries around the world, and recently Dr. Grossman came to talk about robots and machines. Dr. Stine told us all about faultlines spread around California, and how everything that does not make sense now, makes sense if we moves two plates backwards in time, making them make sense again. Dr. Stine helped 6th graders see how fun geology could be, and we all learned a lot from him. Craig, the founder of Free the Children came to tell of his adventures around poor countries and how he helped many of the homeless living on the streets and such. He encouraged us to help these poor children, because they were so helpless. Finally, Craig helped us realize that a bunch of middle school kids can do a lot to help the world; change it. Dr. Hunt came and spoke to the 6th grade about discoveries, informing us of some of the famous discoveries that changed the world’s sense of history. He told us that even we could stumble upon a discovery, and maybe someday we will change history. Finally, today, Dr. Grossman came to talk about the different robots that could help, entertain, and do different things. He talked about what robots were, and what they could do. Dr. Grossman told us about what robots were made for, perhaps making puzzles, or assembling things. Then he showed us all the inventions that people have made to accomplish a certain goal. Finally, he said of the many robots around the world, and its many uses. Menlo has been visited by many speakers, and so far students may be inspired by them, and maybe were helped to get a firm grasp of what they want to do in the future.
